- @thesweetlittlepartyco - a gorgeous party food table for her son’s superhero/avengers themed 3rd birthday party
- @thesweetlittlepartyco - close up of the fruit cups at the above mentioned birthday party. These are always a winner at parties (for Mums as well as the kids!)
- @courtenayk - how cute is this cookie monster cake!
- @kell1673 - Lego head biscuits made from lantern shaped cookie cutters, yellow fondant icing and black piped icing for her son’s Lego themed birthday party.
The great thing about instagram is that you can see something that you like and just ask them how they did it and most of the time they are very friendly and really happy to share! This week a friend of mine was telling me that she wanted to make a cookie monster cake for her daughter’s birthday and fortuitously @courtenayk had just tagged her cake and joined in with #diypartyfun , so I just asked her in the comments how she made the fur (which looked awesome and a little tricky) and she was quite happy to let me know! Wilton icing tip no. 233 and apparently very easy, in case you were wondering. My friend popped into her local cake shop and got the tip and her daughter loved the awesome cake that she made for her birthday! Love the sharing and caring that goes on in the interwebs connecting us to others with likeminded passions and interests. It really can be a friendly kind of place if you let it.
If you have celebrated anything recently (anything at all!) then please join in by tagging your pics with #diypartyfun. Any stage of the process is fine too! We’d love to see it all!
If you are on instagram and want to join in, you can tag pics from your archives (just by writing it in a comment under the pic) or post new ones with the tag #diypartyfun (don’t forget to tag me too @froggoosebear so I know you’ve joined in, especially if you have a private page as I won’t be able to see them otherwise) and I’ll re-share my faves each Monday on instagram and here on my blog. If you are on facebook you can join in too, but the way facebook works, you can’t just retag a photo in the comments like you can on instagram, it’ll only work if you post a new photo to your own timeline (or add it to mine) and tag it #diypartyfun in the wording of the post. I’m more than happy for you to just pop a pic up on my wall at www.facebook.com/froggoosebear with the tag#diypartyfun so you can share your awesome party pics with the world and they’ll go into the running each week. Come back next Monday for even more DIY party pics!
Have you been reading the Real Parties series where fellow everyday Mums share their secrets of how they manage the party thing? If you’d like to be involved, just send me an email - I’d love to hear from you!
